Syphilis
What is it?
Syphilis is a bacterial infection that is usually transmitted through sex, also known as an STD. A person may or may not get symptoms of syphilis, but it typically will not go away on its own, and when left untreated it can cause more serious health concerns later on.
Diagnosis & Treatment
To test for syphilis, the medical professional will do a blood test, and collect fluid from any sores.
If the infection is detected, a person will either have a single injection into her bottom or will take oral antibiotics lasting anywhere between 2 to 4 weeks.
